A new study suggests that learning how to lose weight fast may benefit men in more ways than one. The study found that men with a large amount of belly fat may put themselves at a higher risk for bone loss. In addition to health risks linked to obesity, such as diabetes and heart disease, bone loss may be another compelling reason for overweight men to consider the best weight loss program for targeting stubborn belly fat.

Researchers studied 35 obese males and found that men with visceral fat, or belly fat, were more likely to experience bone loss and decreased bone strength. The study was conducted by researchers from Massachusetts General and Harvard Medical School. Although the results have not yet been published in a major medical journal, they were recently presented at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America.

Physician-assisted fast weight loss programs

For men concerned about the many risks associated with being overweight, there is help available. The Center for Medical Weight Loss is one option for those who want to learn how to lose weight fast – and keep it off for good. The physician-guided programs offered by the center are customized to a patient’s unique needs and metabolic makeup. Clients in the program typically lose up to 11.1 percent of their total body weight in just 12 weeks – results that have been published in the American Journal of Medicine.

The programs at the Center for Medical Weight Loss incorporate low-calorie diets with daily exercise and personalized counseling to help dieters shed weight and make healthier lifestyle choices. The customized approach may be particularly helpful for men who wish to lose excess weight around the midsection and reduce the risk for obesity-related conditions. Physicians consider an individual’s medical history, metabolic rate and specific weight loss goals while designing a custom approach to weight loss.

Shed excess belly fat while improving your health

Until this recent study was completed, the bulk of research on bone loss or osteoporosis had been conducted on women. This is one of the first of its kind to focus on risk factors in males. Men with similar body mass indexes (BMIs), but lower amounts of visceral fat, were less likely to develop signs of osteoporosis.

At The Center for Medical Weight Loss, the doctor-guided plans help individuals achieve a healthy weight and reduce the risk for obesity-related diseases, while lowering their risk of bone loss.
