  • Don’t skip meals—especially breakfast. Most people think they can get off to a quick start by skipping a few meals. Make sure to eat three healthy meals a day, and at least one snack every 2-4 hours.
  • Stay physically active: A busy schedule may make it hard to stick to an intense workout schedule, but always try to make room for at least 20-30 minutes of physical activity a day. Take the kids to the park, hit the treadmill while watching TV, or take the stairs instead of the elevator—every little bit of activity helps.
  • Keep a record of your weight: Stay aware of your eating trends with a food journal, and record your weight every day. If weight gain begins, you can now address the problem: Is it caused by diet habits, or lack of exercise?
  • Hydrate: Drinking water keeps your metabolism active and helps burn calories. It’s also a healthy, no-calorie alternative to beverages with high sugar content, such as soda and energy and sports drinks.
